Oh man is a giddy thing...

An addendum to my last post...

Quick writing update: Hard at work on chapter 13! Be sure to check out chapters 1-6 and give me some opinions!!

Quick life update: No new job or publisher yet, but I did get a new car! It's a white jeep, so people keep getting her confused with Wilson... but she is indeed different. Her name is Fiona.

I have become a very proficient spider killer since I moved into the basement. I kill two a day, usually. Sometimes a thousand.

Here's the music I've been listening to lately.

-Mumford and Sons, "Sigh No More"
-Hawkboy, self titled EP
-Radiohead, "The Bends"
-Florence + the Machine, "Lungs"
-Death Cab for Cutie, "Codes and Keys"
-Falling Up, "Your Sparkling Death Cometh"
-Fiona Apple, "Everyday" (just a Buddy Holly cover, haven't listened to much else yet)

In terms of reading, I just finished the fifth book in the Legacy of the Force series "Sacrifice". Very good book... I'm now reading "The Magicians" while I wait for the sixth book, Inferno, to come in the mail.

In terms of movies, I haven't seen anything in a while... I think Captain America and Cowboys and Aliens are the next couple of movies I'm excited about...

Alright llamas, that's all for now...

Two Leaves

Wrote a new poem... I can't remember where I got the idea. Or where I wrote it, actually. It's kind of strange, because I definitely remember that it wasn't inspired by seeing any actual leaves. I sort of forgot about it tucked in the back of the notebook I used to write the first half of Child of Thunder. Well, anyhow, read it and weep! Or maybe just let me know what you think. It's a bit short, so if I haven't lost you in writing this long intro, you really don't have far to go.

"Two Leaves"

We're just two leaves,
caught in the same breeze,
I was so alone on my treetop perch,
the last green gasp of summer
till this windy night brought us together
two leaves, floating together

I never wanted to turn gold,
never asked to reach the top,
all I wanted was the chance,
to fly, and one brave soul to join me

I don't ever want to come down
don't want to stop and decay,
with all the rest of Autumn's victims,
all to be raked and bagged and burned
I just want to reach for the clouds,
with you by side,
reach high and never, ever come down
